Activities

  • Green Isle Trail

Our primary initial focus is to establish a “Green Isle Trail” running from Kilcreggan along Fort Road, around the coast to the Green Isle Plantation and the Caravan Park and back via Clachan Farm track and the Forestry Track to Kilcreggan. We have a map which you can find here.

  • Kilcreggan Fort Road to Portkil/ Millbrae Pathway

Our Community Footpaths Group has been awarded a grant of £10,000 from the Walking Scotland’s Strathclyde Transport Community Path Fund 2025/2026. The aim of the award is to produce a detailed design of a good quality accessible footpath following the existing Core Path, which is muddy and uneven, linking Kilcreggan with Portkil and Millbrae.

  • Mapping of other paths and their condition

The group are planning to map other paths throughout the peninsula, noting their state and suitability for type of use. This includes the Peninsula Way to Garelochhead, which would provide a link to the 3 Lochs Way.

Tilhill manage the forestry area at the top of peninsula and will manage the new forestry area to the north of Lindowan Reservoir. They (and the owners) have agreed to put in paths our group suggested. We intend to link to these paths to create a number of walking route options.

  • Investigation of the feasibility of Shore Path

Following community interest, some initial ideas for a shore path from Kilcreggan to Cove and Peaton were considered. However, there are many constraints on what is possible, so this idea will be in the background for the moment. There is potential for collaboration with other community groups.
