OC Community Garden awarded grant from The Mushroom Trust

The Community Garden in Cove & Kilcreggan is to receive GBP 1000 from The Mushroom Trust, a Scotland-based charity.

The grant will be used for creating a deer fence to protect it from the large population of deer on the peninsula, equipment such as tools & bedding materials and fertiliser.

The Community Garden was set up in early 2025 and has developed rapidly through the dedication of local volunteers, donations and fundraising efforts. Significant progress has been made with the establishment of raised beds and planting areas for a wide variety of flowers and vegetables including courgettes, radishes, pak choi, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, broccoli, kale and pumpkins. It has acquired a polytunnel recently. The garden not only supports food production but also offers a welcoming environment for residents and visitors to enjoy.
