Craigrownie Park feasibility report by MAST Architects released

MAST Architects and Reid Associates appointed by Our Community to look at a range of options for Craigrownie Park have finalised and released their feasibility report. The report aimed to build on previous ideas, consultations and outcomes of the Local Place Plan documents, and identify a range of improvements across the Park and wider area that would benefit everyone.

Since it was formed in the first decade of the 20th Century, Craigrownie Park has undergone a range of alterations and improvements, including the installation of a skate park, a zip wire, and varied play equipment serving as a vital outdoor facility for children and families. At the same time, aspects of the park have been subject to dilapidation and their amenity value is limited.

The aim of the study was to build on the ideas previously agreed through community consultation and described in Local Place Plan documents. By re-engaging with these key stakeholders, the study has identified, developed and coordinated strategies to deliver the Community’s vision for a revitalised Craigrownie Park. The stakeholders involved in the consultations included the Youth cafe, Bowling Club and community garden among others.

MAST architects, working with representatives of Our Community, attempted to resolve a range of diverse and potentially competing interests and aspirations for the site. Their aim has been, as far as possible, to facilitate the requirements of each without causing detriment to other stakeholder groups or cause an obstruction to wider strategic improvements that would benefit the wider community.

Our Community Board will now seek funding to progress the plans into the more detailed design required to apply for planning permission.
