Cove & Kilcreggan village Tidy-Ups

Two 'low key' village tidy ups were organised for our village centres - one for Sunday November 16th and the other for Sunday November 23rd. We hadn't publicised these events and only a few volunteers turned out. But to be fair, there was a lot on over these weekends what with Christmas markets, rehearsals and other seasonal events plus. Sunday 23rd can be summed up in two words 'wet and cold'! Nonetheless, we were a jolly bunch and got stuck in!
In Cove we topped up the existing planters with some spring bulbs and shrubs, washed the bus shelter, placed three pre-prepared large pots of planting at the picnic area (these might yet be relocated to the village center) and made a hearty start at clearing the overgrown footpath at Akeman Wood. In Kilcreggan we pruned the tree outside Yvie's shop (at her request), cleaned the ‘Welcome to Kilcreggan’ sign, did a bit of bulb planting and placed a total of five pre-planted troughs and four rejuvenated pots outside local businesses, hoping to add some winter cheer!
We could have done more of course, and volunteers will chip away at some remaining tasks but we hope to have a much better turn out to a Villages Spring-clean which we will promote well in advance!
